This series of seven vases is a poignant artistic response to the devastating wildfires ravaging Canada...

Each piece, unique and unpredictable, is born from the fusion of glass within an ephemeral wooden mold. As the series progresses, the imprints left by the wood become increasingly pronounced, bearing witness to the brutal transformation of matter.

The mold, crafted from the iconic 2x4 —Canada’s staple lumber used in the construction of most homes—serves both as a medium and a symbol. This very wood, sourced from forests now threatened by climate change, becomes a tangible memory of endangered landscapes.

The smoky effect and pervasive black hues amplify the narrative dimension, evoking both destruction and the profound impact of the fires. These vases, existing somewhere between functional objects and sculptural remnants, crystallize the urgency of a collective reflection on our relationship with nature and the irreversible transformations it endures.

Crafted from glass tubes salvaged from the production remnants of Alex Joncas’ lighting studio, the piece explores a visceral fascination with materiality. Glass reveals itself in all its fragility, capturing both the raw impact of breakage and the mesmerizing serenity of a dancing flame.

This unique 2024 creation merges Pyrex, steel, oil, and cotton, elevating the poetry of the everyday through a fragile yet powerful alchemy.

Designed as a special edition, it reinterprets the Ra Wall, the iconic luminaire from Studio Darmes, by infusing it with a vibrant, artisanal dimension.

Each disc, unique in its shades and textures, serves as a canvas where heat and material interact to create organic and luminous compositions. The enameled surfaces capture and diffuse light with magnetic intensity, transforming the Ra Wall into a hybrid work at the crossroads of functional design and contemporary art.

This limited series embodies the very essence of the studio: pushing the boundaries of creation by elevating timeless materials and infusing a new sense of poetry into luminous objects.

A signature of designer Alexandre Joncas. Here, light does not diffuse but instead bounces, captured and multiplied by the chrome-plated steel surfaces. The shifting reflections seem to lift the structure, creating a subtle sense of weightlessness.

At the intersection of typologies, The Chair blends the proportions of an armchair, a chair, and a stool. Its design draws inspiration from physiotherapy, combining elegance and ergonomics with a particular focus on spinal alignment. It encourages an upright posture—both comfortable and assertive.

True to a conscious and sustainable approach, The Chair utilizes materials that are both aesthetic and responsible. Carbon-neutral and plant-based linoleum pairs with 100% recyclable steel, forming a piece where design and environmental respect harmoniously coexist.
